Summary
Nationwide All-Round Handyman Developer Warranty & NHBC Defect Repairs
About Us
We are a specialist building services contractor delivering defect rectification, maintenance, and insurance repair work on behalf of leading UK developers and national insurance providers. Our focus is on new-build residential properties, handling everything from cosmetic snagging to complex post-completion repairs.
We’re proud to work directly with housebuilders and insurers, not homeowners, providing professional and reliable service across the UK. This includes repairs during the 24-month developer warranty period and handling NHBC Buildmark insurance claims (years 3–10).
The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced all-around handyman to join our nationwide team. You’ll travel to sites across the UK to carry out multi-trade repair works in both occupied and unoccupied homes. All work is pre-booked, fully scheduled, and supported by our office team.
This role is suited to someone who’s confident working independently, takes pride in their craftsmanship, and can deliver high standards of finish on the first visit.
Key Responsibilities
Attend defect appointments for the developer aftercare (within the 2-year warranty period)
- Complete remedial works related to NHBC insurance claims (years 3–10)
- Travel to various sites across the UK as required (accommodation arranged if overnight stays are needed)
- Diagnose and resolve common building defects on-site
- Carry out a wide range of repairs, including:
- Carpentry – doors, skirtings, frames, floors, cabinets
- Plastering – walls/ceilings, patching, finishing
- Painting & Decorating – walls, woodwork, stain blocking, colour matching
- Tiling – floors/walls, grout, replacement, waterproofing checks
- Plumbing – taps, leaks, WC issues (non-Gas Safe only)
- Minor Electrical – replacing light fittings, switches, sockets (non-certified)
- Silicone & Sealants – wet rooms, kitchens, windows
- Snagging – general touch-ups and finishing works
- Complete job reports, before/after photos, and feedback through the mobile job app
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, site teams, and project managers
- Maintain excellent timekeeping, cleanliness, and health & safety standards
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in construction, snagging, or residential maintenance
- Proven multi-trade capability with high-quality finish
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently across different locations
- Full UK Driving Licence – essential
- CSCS Card – preferred or willing to obtain
- Must be willing to travel and stay away when needed (accommodation covered)
- Basic own tools – the company provides any specialist equipment
- Comfortable using mobile apps for job scheduling and reporting
Desirable
- Experience working on developer aftercare programs (24-month warranty period)
- Familiarity with NHBC Buildmark claims and standards
- Experience dealing with developers, insurers, or housing associations
- Trade qualifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds) in a construction-related trade
- Familiarity with job management platforms (e.g. simPRO, BigChange, AroFlo)
What We Offer
- Competitive salary or day rate (PAYE or CIS options available)
- Fuel card provided for business travel
- Company iPad or smartphone for job management and reporting
- Travel time, mileage, accommodation & expenses covered for overnight stays
- Uniform, PPE, and access to necessary materials and specialist tools
- Regular, consistent workload from major developers and insurers
- Full support from an experienced office-based scheduling and operations team
- Long-term, stable opportunity with a professional and growing company
