Summary

Mechanic & MOT Tester

  • Location: Barnstaple (with occasional support at South Molton)
  • Job Type: Full-Time,temp to perm
  • Salary: Competitive, Based on Experience

Acorn by Synergie are looking for Mechanics to Join a friendly, experienced team at a growing, community-focused garage entering an exciting new phase of investment and development.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Performing MOT Tests - Ensuring vehicles meet DVSA standards for safety and compliance.
  • Servicing & Repairs - Diagnosing and fixing mechanical and electrical issues, from routine maintenance to complex repairs.
  • Documentation & Communication - Accurately documenting test results and clearly explaining issues to advisors and customers.
  • Workshop Support - Contributing to daily operations and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
  • Customer Service - Providing honest, helpful advice and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Compliance & Quality - Ensuring all repairs meet safety and legal requirements.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years as a Vehicle Technician (MOT Tester license preferred but not essential).
  • Qualifications: Ideally Level 3 qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Skills: Strong diagnostic ability, mechanical knowledge, and hands-on workshop experience.
  • Attitude: Reliable, safety-conscious, and team-oriented with a commitment to high standards.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence with <6 points and no major incidents in the past 5 years. Category C1 is a bonus.
