Based at the Guildhall, Gainsborough

We have an exciting new opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to help us drive forward the growth and development of the Gainsborough Market in the newly developed and regenerated town centre.

As the Markets Development Officer, you will provide a vital link in building positive relationships between stakeholders in the town centre including market traders (new and old), local businesses, developers, community groups, town and district councils.

You will actively support Market Rasen and Caistor Town Councils in their market delivery, sharing contacts, promotions and best practice. We are particularly looking to promote the markets to increase footfall and the dwell time in the town centres across West Lindsey, encouraging more shoppers and visitors to the areas.

Working as part of the Commercial Services Team, you will forge links with colleagues across the Council, especially in the Cultural, Growth and Communications teams.

You should have a strong knowledge of retail and the challenges the town centres face and be able to support small businesses and traders in a retail environment. You will require strong people skills, with the ability to motivate and influence others to achieve successful and sustainable outcomes to ensure the town centres thrive.

The post-holder will also be confident in promoting the town centres using social media and other marketing platforms to gain engagement in the town centre activities, traders and businesses. As a part of the Commercial Services Team, you will work alongside the Cultural Team to support and develop the events within the town centre for businesses and the community.

This post will be required to work the weekly Tuesday and Saturday markets in the Gainsborough Market Place.
