HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice and is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family Courts and Tribunals in England and Wales. National Services manage centralised administrative and contact functions in HMCTS. Your role
Our administrative teams in Northampton are the core of our National Services. Roles include data entry of paper and digital work, telephony, customer complaints and correspondence. You will deal with enquiries from service users via post, email and telephone. Types of County Court Claims we deal with include credit card / loan / hire purchase debt, and parking / moving traffic contraventions.
You will be assigned to a team to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the Court system, or to one of our telephone ‘Civil Contact’ teams.
This is a fast-paced position that requires attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and deal with each customer as an individual whilst managing your time effectively. You will need to be resilient, keen to learn, and have the IT skills to adapt to new systems and technologies, as we’re constantly investing in digital solutions to improve the way we deliver justice.
You will be expected to commit to our 18-month Apprenticeship Programme as part of this offer, please see below for further details.
Your skills and experience
With a friendly and approachable manner, you’ll have good written and verbal communication skills with a desire to deliver proactive and effective support to customers. You’ll have great attention to detail, able to enter information into our database accurately and efficiently, and able and adapt to using various software packages. You’ll enjoy organising your time, prioritising efficiently and multi-tasking in a busy environment.

Our Apprenticeship Offer - Improvement Technician Apprenticeship Level 3 (AO)
An apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn. Fully funded by your employer, you'll receive protected learning time during your working week to complete your studies. You'll work through the modules of your apprenticeship and apply what you've learned in your job role. Throughout this journey, you'll be fully supported by a work coach and complete online learning with regular check-ins with your coach and your manager.
This is a chance to focus on developing new transferable skills and a great opportunity to enhance your personal growth and career progression. At the end of your apprenticeship, you'll receive certification and be able to take those skills with you, wherever your career may lead.
To be eligible to apply you must;
Spend 50% of your time working in England
Have the Right to Work in England
Have been resident in the UK or EEA for the last 3 years
Not be on another funded learning programme at the same time
This opportunity is open to everyone, however if you are aged 16 to 18 years, the entry requirements for the apprenticeship are Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (grades 9 – 4 in a Maths and English), or you will need to complete Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English alongside the apprenticeship. If you are over the age of 18 you will not have to complete this.

These operational roles are customer facing, requiring successful applicants to be office based to provide HMCTS services to the public. Non-contractual hybrid working may be available within our telephony teams. Hybrid working arrangements will be determined by the business and will only be available when it has been established that delivering the service from home can be done effectively. We cannot facilitate requests for a particular work from home/working in the office schedule.
These positions are offered as full time only. Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week.
Training
There is a 1-week induction, followed by a full-time 4-week training academy, this is office based / in person.
Following this training period, you will be enrolled onto the Apprenticeship Programme where an assessment will be conducted to ensure your learning experience is personalised.
