Summary

We are looking for an experienced Engineer to work as a member of the Mitie Fire Operations Field service team. You'll ensure effective delivery of PPM, Reactive calls and additional Small Works, ensuring compliance with all Legal and Regulatory requirements.

You'll be expected to carry out routine servicing, testing, inspection, repairs, and installation fire stopping to the relevant legislative and qualitative standards, alongside appropriate documentation and records in a timely and appropriate manner. You should have excellent communication skills, alongside basic Bolster literacy.

You should be capable of working to high levels of Health and Safety Requirements and having previous experience in a similar role carrying out PPM, reactive calls and Small Works in the Fire stopping industry. Service test and inspection experience to the relevant standards/codes are also expected including. You will also be expected to actively attend and participate in any company-initiated training to maintain an up to date knowledge of technical aspects of the role.

The ideal candidate would have previous experience with PPM, Accident Reporting, or RAMS, alongside following Health and Safety Legislation, preferably in the engineering field. Sharing technical and problem-solving abilities and knowledge with colleagues alongside an ability to take initiative and work with little supervision is also ideal.



Job PurposeTo carry out the installation, inspection, and maintenance of passive fire protection systems across healthcare environments, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and hospital-specific standards. The role requires flexibility in working across multiple hospital sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities
-Install and maintain fire stopping systems including sealants, fire collars, wraps, and barriers.

-Conduct fire compartmentation surveys and remedial works in accordance with HTM 05-02 and relevant British Standards.

-Accurately document all works using digital tools and update fire strategy drawings where applicable.

-Work collaboratively with hospital estates teams, contractors, and clinical staff to ensure minimal disruption to healthcare services.

-Ensure all work is carried out in line with infection prevention and control protocols.

-Travel to other hospital or healthcare sites as required to support fire safety compliance.

Essential Skills & Experience
-Experience in passive fire protection and fire stopping techniques.

-Familiarity with fire safety regulations and standards (e.g., BS 476, BS EN 1366, HTM 05-02).

-Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

-Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

-Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Desirable Qualifications
-FIRAS, BM TRADA, or equivalent third-party accreditation.

-CSCS card or equivalent site safety certification.

-Previous experience working in live healthcare or sensitive environments.
