We are currently recruiting to cover two maternity leave positions (Uro Oncology / Breast) in our Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team, and looking for registered nurses who have the clinical interest and or experience in those fields to share our passion and drive to ensure that all patients with cancer receive compassionate quality care.

In this role you will develop specialised clinical knowledge, skills and expertise in managing patients with Uro-Oncology/Breast cancer and their carers/family. You will support patients from the time of initial diagnosis onwards, with their clinical, practical, psychological and emotional needs. This may include: clinical care, attending MDT meetings, attending Breaking bad news clinics, undertaking Holistic Needs Assessments, Completing personalised care plans, making MDT referrals, undertaking ward reviews for inpatients, facilitating emergency admissions or same day procedures for patients with complications of disease or treatments, and sign posting patients to other services.

There are four main areas of responsibility, Clinical, Educational, Professional and Research.
The post holder will support the senior clinical nurse specialist and undertake the responsibility of the role in their absence. This includes:-
•Providing a comprehensive quality service for the management of patients with cancer and their carers/family at primary diagnosis and metastatic diagnosis. Supporting patients to provide clinical, practical, psychological and emotional support. This may include: attending MDT meetings, attending Breaking bad news clinics, undertaking Holistic Needs Assessments, Completing personalised care plans, making MDT referrals, undertaking ward reviews for inpatients, facilitating emergency admissions or same day procedures for patients with complications of disease or treatments, sign posting patients to other services.
• To provide expert communication with patients in ways which empower them to make informed choices about their health and healthcare, providing practical information on all aspects of treatment.
• To work in collaboration with the lead clinician and the Multidisciplinary Team on the Isle of Wight and Mainland, to provide a high quality co-ordinated service between all disciplines. Encompassing a multi-disciplinary approach to care.
• To act as a resource in providing evidence based advice and information to promote the health and well-being of patients with cancer, and offer clinical expertise in treatments/therapies for patients. In order to optimise positive health outcomes and quality of life.
• To provide professional innovation within the specialty, and contribute to the development of cancer services throughout the Trust as a core member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
• To provide clinical nursing leadership and act as a specialist resource for nurses, doctors and others in the acute trust and community services within the specialty.
• Take part in the development and implementation of clinical audit and research projects in specialist areas, ensuring that the findings are disseminated and good practice is shared across the trust and beyond, in accordance with Trust governance and clinical guidelines.
