We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Street Cleansing Operative (Grade 3) to join our Building Services & Maintenance team. This vital role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our public spaces, ensuring that our community remains a pleasant and healthy environment for all residents and visitors. As a Street Cleansing Operative, you will be responsible for a variety of cleaning tasks including litter picking, sweeping, and managing waste disposal. You will work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating your commitment to public service and environmental sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. You will play an important role in enhancing the aesthetic appeal and hygiene of the streets, parks, and other public areas, contributing to the overall quality of life in our community. Responsibilities
Conduct regular street cleansing activities to remove litter and debris from designated areas.
Operate street cleaning machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Empty litter bins and replace liners as necessary to ensure cleanliness at all times.
Report any maintenance needs or safety hazards encountered during cleaning duties.
Assist in the collection and removal of bulk waste and recycling where required.
Participate in community clean-up events and initiatives to promote environmental awareness.
Keep accurate records of work completed and report any issues to supervisors promptly.
Requirements
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong physical fitness and stamina to perform manual handling tasks.
Good communication skills to liaise with team members and supervisors effectively.
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings or weekends as needed.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to street cleaning operations.
Previous experience in a similar cleaning or maintenance role is preferred but not essential.
Hours Per Week: 36.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £12.85
