Summary

You will be a valued member of the overall Finance team. Working within the Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship (Level 3) scheme, you will get the opportunity to develop your accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills, leading to a recognised Accountancy qualification. You will also be asked to help implement change in the organisation.

PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES
Regular duties and responsibilities to include but not limited to:


Gain a strong understanding of Purchase Ledger functionality in our accounting system Navision.
Process documents and journals accurately with strong attention to detail.
Analyse, code with accuracy and obtain appropriate sign off on invoices for both purchases and overheads.
Automate Invoice recognition within our Document Capture software.
Record invoices onto our Navision accounting system across multiple vendors and currencies.
Contact suppliers for statements and missing invoices.
Liaise with other departments to ensure sign off does not delay processing of invoices.
Allocation of overheads to relevant cost centres.
Post supplier payments on to the Purchase Ledger.
Be part of ad-hoc projects, such as system maintenance and process improvement.
Liaise with our sales team to receive and record in a timely manner, all expenses and costs.
Help rest of Finance Team with nominal postings as required.
Provide support for other departments in Finance if necessary.


Training
Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3 - AAT
This Level 3 programme builds on the foundations for entry level talent to support growth within an Accountancy and Finance function.
Employees on this apprenticeship will ensure an Accountancy and Finance practice performs in the most effective way. It includes the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and provides the opportunity for them to support the business with essential skills and behaviours to drive results.
You will learn how to prepare financial statements for Sole Traders and Partnerships, the importance of management accounting information, and how to prepare VAT returns. You’ll develop the technical skills to start, or progress, your career in accountancy and this will allow you to continue with your studies onto Level 4.
To pass this level you will need to study the following four units:

Financial Accounting; Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS).

Management Accounting Techniques (MATS).

Tax Processes for Business (TPFB).

Business Awareness (BUAW).
You will also be required to complete an End Point Assessment (EPA), which will include a synoptic assessment and discussion with supporting portfolio.
Training will be provided by attending either face-to-face classroom based lessons or Live Online. An apprenticeship has to be relevant to the job you are undertaking and you must dedicate time to off the job training, as well as completing knowledge, skills and behaviours associated with your apprenticeship.

Qualifications required


A Levels grades A-C, ideally including Maths or Accountancy.
GCSE grades 9/A* - 5/C including Maths and English.


Skills required


Be pro-active, a good problem solver and want to grow and develop your accounting and system knowledge.
Good communicator both written and verbally.
The ability to evaluate, prioritise and balance your own workload.
Excellent computer skills, particularly Excel.


Prospects
Training and Development to become a qualified Accounting Technician with the opportunity of experience in a wide range of Finance tasks.
