Hillcrest Futures is recruiting for a Substance Use Peer Support Worker
About the Service
Angus Community Recovery Service provides support to individuals 16+ and their families who are affected by substance use. The service focusses on supporting people to establish and build on recovery strategies through emotional, practical and social support. We offer one-to-one support, group work, peer-led activities, and access to local recovery resources and activities.
About the Role
The peer worker will provide support to people accessing the service which includes one-to-one and group support by helping them access a range of activities to support their recovery. Peer workers will use their own lived experience of substance use and recovery to inspire and encourage people to move forward with their own recovery. You will also support the Project Workers to deliver groups and activities that support wellbeing and recovery which includes supporting people to access the Wellbean Café’s across Angus as well as other community activities.
About You
You Will:
Have lived experience of substance use and recovery and an understanding on how to promote emotional/mental wellbeing.
Be able to share appropriate parts of your own story when required to guide and motivate others.
Have good understanding of your own wellbeing needs and have support in place to manage this if required.
Good verbal, written, communication and IT skills are necessary for this role as well as a willingness to undertake training and an SVQ qualification.
