About the Service
The Beacon is a new Community Wellbeing Centre providing mental health support for people in Angus. The Beacon is in Kirk Square, Arbroath and is open from 12 noon to 12 midnight, 7 days a week everyday throughout the year. The service will provide support to people in contact with the centre face-to-face, by phone and through social media. It will also provide Distress Brief Interventions and Suicide Prevention across Angus.
About the Role
The project worker will play a vital role in providing welcoming, empathic support to people in distress and their families and provide emotional and practical support to help alleviate their distress and help them to manage their wellbeing. You will also provide level 1 Distress Brief Intervention training to professionals and deliver suicide prevention activities in the community
About You
You will:
Work closely with Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service who will on occasion bring people in distress to the Beacon for support following agreed pathways.
Liaise with community and inpatient mental health professionals when required to support people to access this type of support if required. Responsibly for recording all interventions in a concise and timely manner.
Be able to work shifts to ensure the service remains operational between 12midday-12midnight
Have an SVQ3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or ability to work towards this.
Have experience of supporting people who are in a mental health crisis, are suffering a high level of distress or suicidal.
Have good communication skills both written and verbal and be competent using IT systems and packages such as word and excel.
Have a full driving licence and use of a car for work.
