BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,00km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.

BEAR has responsibility for over 750 bridges and structures including the iconic Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Industrial Painter to join the Major Bridges Maintenance Team. The role will involve carrying painting and blasting works on the Forth Road Bridge/Queensferry Crossing and other locations throughout the SE Unit as required.

The role also requires involvement in the day-to-day activities relating to the delivery of routine and cyclic maintenance works and schemes of up to £1,000,000 in value, at South Queensferry Depot in the South-East Unit.

Our Engineering Trade team is made up of a variety of engineering and building trades, making up a very versatile team. Our Painting Team carries out industrial blasting and painting in both paint shop and site conditions, as well as structure and depot cyclic and assisting other trades.

You will be joining a knowledgeable close-knit team, who will be glad to share their bridge knowledge and experience.

A full driving licence is essential for this position.

Standard working hours for the Major Bridges Maintenance Team is 40hrs, with a standard dayshift Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

 Carry out Blasting & Painting.
 Carry out cyclic maintenance.
 Assist other trades as required.
 Participate in Rescue Team.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

 Certified ICATS Applicator/Blasting.
 Work at Height.
 Confined Space.
 Sound knowledge of Health & Safety.
 Experience with Industrial Blasting & Painting
 Full Driving Licence.
