We are recruiting an Apprentice Vehicle Technician to join our Fleet team at South Holland District Council based at our West Marsh Road depot.



If you’ve already completed year one or you are a new starter to level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Technician course and are looking for placement, this is the perfect step. If you're just starting out but have the passion and drive to learn, we’ll provide all the training you need!



The Council own fleet vehicles which supports our waste collection services, street cleansing and grounds maintenance operations. This role will assist the Technicians in maintaining and repairing vehicles, plant and machinery. Our Technicians handle all vehicle systems, performing tasks from simple part replacements to diagnosing complex faults using advanced diagnostic methods.



You’ll be joining a friendly and highly skilled team of experienced vehicle technicians who are passionate about what they do. With hands-on knowledge and a commitment to mentoring, they’ll help you build confidence, develop your skills, and grow into a successful technician.



What you’ll be doing:

Assisting the workshop team with scheduled and ad hoc vehicle maintenance and repairs
Carry out services and diagnostics of fleet vehicles- All diagnostic equipment are either PC or tablet based
Supporting the upkeep of accurate and up-to-date maintenance records and systems
Working in all weather conditions for which PPE will be supplied


What we need from you

A keen interest in vehicle mechanics
GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or level 2 functional skills
A valid UK Driving Licence


What course would I be studying

Level 3 Vehicle Service and maintenance Technician. Depending on experience this will be two - four years attending Peterborough College or an associated site. There will also be in house training opportunities.
