Summary
Using verbal, non-verbal and written communication tools ensure that patients and carers have an understanding of their condition and the role and aims of Therapy in relation to this. To be confident in their own diagnosis and be able to communicate that effectively to others (including medical doctors, other Allied Health Professionals etc). To share information in a timely manner with more senior staff if there are any concerns about a patients safety, condition or prognosis. To urgently report and take, appropriate action if there are any concerns about staff and/or patient safety.. To represent the community service in meetings with other professionals with an aim of accurately contributing and reporting back relevant information to their line manager. Maintain confidentiality at all times, consistent with Trust policy. Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with professional and trust standards. Use IT skills accurately in patient notes and report writing. Professional Skills: The staff member must be able to adapt their communication, treatment, information and advice to meet the needs of individual patients. Patients seen will range from the vulnerable to those who are extremely well informed about their condition. The staff member must be sensitive to patients own cultures, beliefs and emotions, especially when asking them to undress for treatment n during assessments or treatments. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work including the management of patients in your care. To take a lead for specific projects within your area of work to enhance patient care and service delivery. To train, supervise and performance manage junior staff, technical instructors, assistants and students. To effectively manage and prioritise your own workload within the time available including the prioritisation of patients to be treated along with other commitments in the day. Actively participate in Continuous Professional Development and maintain a portfolio recording learning outcomes. Undertake the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices and participate in research and development through the use of Evidence Based Practice projects, audit and outcome measures. To make recommendations for change as a result of this process. Demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and apply this understanding to work situations.
