Summary
The Role We seek to recruit the very best support staff to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our School. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technician with a good background in science and experience of working in a school or laboratory. The successful candidate will work as a member of a team of four technicians providing specialist technical support to the Science Faculty consisting of eight laboratories over two floors. The role will include the preparation, setting up and clearing away of apparatus, equipment, materials and solutions as required by teaching staff to support Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons for KS3 to KS5 pupils (Years 7 to 13). The post is permanent, full-time term time only plus INSET (37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year), with extra weeks in the school holidays to be determined, and will commence as soon as possible. We would consider part-time hours term time for the right candidate. The salary offered for this post will be Local Government Grade 5, points 11-14, approximately £23,428.91 to £24,593 (fte £27,269 to £28,624). For the right exceptional candidate with relevant experience, salary Grade 6 points 15-20, approximately £24,996.05 to £27,137.98 (fte £29,093 to £31,586) will be considered.About youThe successful candidate will be qualified to GCSE Grade 5 or C or above in English language, mathematics and sciences and be proficient with IT. They will possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently and as part of a team. The post would ideally suit someone with experience of working in a secondary school, keen to develop skills and continually familiarise themselves with laboratory specific guidance, best practice and Health and Safety requirements.
