Medhurst is a 26 bed care home for the elderly situated between Crosskeys and Risca. We have a strong focus on home cooked, nutritious meals. Mealtimes are a key part of daily life here- not just for nutrition but for enjoyment and wellbeing.
Your role
As a kitchen assistant, you'll support the smooth running of the kitchen, ensuring all meals are prepared and served to a high standard. You'll also cover the role of Assistant Cook when needed - helping with meal preparation and cooking duties.
Key responsibilities
• Assist with food preparation and basic cooking tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas and dining room.
• Help with washing up, storing deliveries and stock rotation.
• Follow food safety and dietary guidelines at all times.
• Step in as assistant cook when required, helping to prepare hot meals.
About you
• Experience in kitchen or catering environment
• Basic food Hygiene certificate Level 2 (or willing to train)
• A willingness to learn and adapt to different kitchen roles.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Reliable, positive and respectful towards residents and colleagues.
• Knowledge of specialised diets, IDSSI, preferred.
