Summary

Work with us at Riverford, and join a thriving employee-owned business
Be part of a supportive, down-to-earth and solutions driven farm team
Beyond the Veg Box - At Riverford, our passion for organic vegetables is unmatched. We’re not just about delivering veg boxes; we're dedicated to sustainable farming and community building. As a part of our team, you become a co-owner, sharing in our successes and contributing to a mission that goes beyond profit. We aim to make Riverford a fulfilling place to work, where our co-owners feel valued.
Our HQ at Wash Farm in Devon is a beautiful place to work, surrounded by good people, good food, and plenty of fresh air. As a co-owner, you’ll benefit from 33 days holiday (pro rata, including bank holidays), an ethical & generous company pension scheme, and an annual profit share, where 10% of all profits are split equally among co-owners. We also offer heavily discounted organic breakfasts and lunches, free organic fruit and veg to take home and free parking.
Grow with Riverford - Take the next step in your personal and professional journey with training tailored to help you grow and achieve your goals.
As our Farm Team Manager, you’ll help shape Riverford’s future.
Love the outdoors and good food? Come and lead the team that brings fresh organic veg from our fields to thousands of plates every day. This is not just a job. It is about working together, caring about quality and feeling proud of what we grow.

We are looking for an organised and positive person to lead our field team. You will look after a core group of seven co-owners with extra help during busy times and make sure everything runs smoothly so our veg is picked carefully, quickly and to the high standards our customers love.

No two days are the same. You will set clear targets, keep the team motivated and help solve challenges as they come up. Safety and wellbeing are a big part of the role too. Keeping people safe and supported is just as important as hitting the numbers. You will also plan labour, track progress and work closely with our Supply Chain team to make sure we stay on top of what is coming in from the fields.

We are looking for someone who is great with people and loves helping a team succeed. If you are organised, practical and like the idea of spending your days outdoors making things happen, this could be a great fit for you.

Salary: £35,544 per annum

Location - Based at Sacrewell Lodge Farm, Thornhaugh, Peterborough, PE8 6HJ. Please be mindful that there is no nearby public transport, having your own means of getting to the farm will be essential.

Hours - 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with early morning starts that may vary depending on weather conditions, and flexibility to work extra hours during our peak seasons.

What You’ll Bring…
People Management: Proven experience in leading and motivating a team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Experience in a values-led organisation is ideal.
Agricultural/Outdoor Operations: Preferable experience working within field operations, agriculture, or a production environment where outdoor work and managing physical tasks are key.
Must have held a valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points, as light driving duties will be part of your role, primarily involving transporting farm team members between fields as needed.
Health & Safety Acumen: A good understanding of Health & Safety principles in an operational or outdoor work setting, with the ability to identify hazards and implement safe working practices.
Communication & Literacy: A good standard of English literacy (written and verbal) and numeracy skills are required for record-keeping, target setting, and effective team communication.
Organisation & Planning: Strong time management and organisational skills, including the ability to plan labour effectively, manage schedules, and maintain meticulous records.
Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to resolve operational issues quickly and safely, particularly those related to quality, productivity, or team dynamics in the field.

Problem-Solver: Possesses good analytical problem-solving skills to address challenges related to crop quality, picking efficiency, and team performance.
Team Player & Leader: Able to operate as a clear leader of the team while also being an integral part of the team, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose.
Approachable & Supportive: Highly approachable, with strong interpersonal skills, a genuine duty of care for team members, and a commitment to their personal development and well-being.
Experience working under pressure and to tight deadlines, while staying calm and focused.
