Summary

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Organise and deliver an efficient, responsive and effective workspace for all trust users. Managing the development and maintenance of the End User Computing Workspace across Windows clients, tablets and mobile devices using Active Directory, SCCM, Software, Hardware and Mobile device management tools. Responsible for the deployment of client patching and Antivirus updates. Management of the desktop/laptop base image and virtual desktop infrastructure Gold Image. Ensure the Digital Services Intranet and Digital Services Knowledge Base site content is accurate and relevant for responsible area. Responsible for the development, installation and maintenance of effective monitoring solutions to ensure end user devices are effectively working to their optimum. Be responsible for maintaining Digital Services DML (Definitive Media Library) ensuring all software is licenced and compliant. Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Trusts hardware and software Asset Management Solution, ensuring appropriate allocation and reallocation of resources are managed and recorded. Pro-actively undertake capacity and availability management, proposing efficient and effective recommendations to support the delivery of IT in short, medium and long term, whilst achieving value for money and maximising return on investment. Assist in the design and planning of large & small-scale projects and implementation of enhancements to the Trust workspace estate, providing specialist technical knowledge. Act as a specialist on all matters relating to the End User Computing applications. Continually review software, identifying software risks and issues and make recommendations to address risks/issues and to fully utilise functionality for the benefit of its users. Ensure the provision of computer-related advice, particularly within the PC environment (Desktop, Laptop, Mobile devices and peripherals), and maintain extensive knowledge and expertise of market developments and standards related to this area. Assist in the review, technical assessment, selection, development, use and maintenance of hardware and software for use within the workspace environment liaising with other Digital Services Teams and ensuring that NHS and Trust policies and procedures are followed. Responsible for the configuration, management, maintenance and monitoring of all workspace devices, hardware and software upgrades in line with Trust standards to maximise capacity, availability, security and functionality. This includes (but not limited to), Virtual Desktop operating systems, Desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile devices, Active Directory, Configuration Management Tools, Microsoft Imaging (Desktop, laptop and mobile device), Patch Management and application distribution. Work together with the EUC Team in developing systems, planning and implementing changes to current architecture by specifying, configuring and installing new software components, patches and upgrades. Responsibility for the provision of standard software build processes for all new PCs (Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, Medical Devices, other mobile devices etc.), and any associated designated applications. Responsibility for the provision of package installation builds for all new IT systems or upgrades thereof. Responsibility to ensure all deployed software is fully licensed. Responsible for ensuring that the trust operating systems are kept up to date and security patches are applied to limit system vulnerabilities. Log incidents, problems and requests in line with department policies and procedures. Ensure the management, monitoring and resolution of incidents, problems and service requests in own areas in line with agreed timescales, processes and procedures. Provide ongoing development and third line technical support and development to operational systems as appropriate, Active Directory GPO, Security updates, Log in scripts, DFS shares, User profiles, mobile device policies. Liaise with users, providing full information and advice and referring complaints in line with departmental policy. Plan and review operational schedules and work programmes and undertake own work in line with these Liaise fully with all stakeholders to ensure that thorough research and understanding of requirements is undertaken and identified and represented when formulating costed solutions. Provide Health and Safety advice to all customers/users regarding hardware and software in line with national legislation and Trust policy and guidelines. Ensure that the disposal of redundant equipment is in accordance with legislative, national and Trust policy and procedure. Manage and action the resolution of issues identified within the user environment in an efficient and professional manner, whilst conforming to Trust and departmental standards, service agreements, polices, procedures and working practices, seeking further advice and information within Digital Services, when necessary. Manage the escalation and monitoring of requests to external agencies, suppliers and contractors ensuring that appropriate minimum data sets are submitted correctly, and full communication of call progress is maintained in a timely manner. Identify areas for service improvement through efficiency or improved delivery. Communicate effectively and sympathetically with staff across varying functions and across all levels of seniority
