Overview:

This client is seeking an experienced Site Engineer with a background in civil engineering, particularly in roads, utilities, and groundworks, to join their team on a major infrastructure project in the Midlands.

The ideal candidate will possess tier two experience or HS2 experience and have a proven track record in site engineering, particularly in the civil engineering discipline, with a focus on roadworks, utility installations, and groundworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Roadworks & Utilities: Manage the execution of road construction, drainage systems, utility installations, and groundworks as part of the infrastructure project.
  • Surveying & Setting Out: Perform accurate surveying and setting out of the site to ensure the project aligns with design plans and specifications. Ensure the correct use of surveying equipment.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure that the work meets project requirements and is compliant with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure the project complies with health and safety regulations, and manage safety on-site, conducting risk assessments, and implementing safe working practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, and other site engineers to coordinate project activities and ensure smooth site operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a Site Engineer, with a focus on roads, utilities, and groundworks on major infrastructure projects or transferable projects.
  • Tier Two Experience: Demonstrable experience in a tier two contractor role, managing site activities on similar-scale projects.
  • Qualifications: A degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using surveying equipment, setting out tools, and relevant software such as AutoCAD, and project management tools.
  • Health & Safety Knowledge: Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations and practices.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders including project managers, subcontractors, and other engineers.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently, ensuring minimal disruption to the project.
  • Location: Based in the Midlands with the most Northern site being Lichfield and most Southern Kenilworth.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience in Infrastructure Projects: Previous involvement in major infrastructure projects is highly desirable, especially in roadworks and utilities installation.
  • CSCS Card: A valid CSCS card (or equivalent) is required.
