Summary
We are looking for two dedicated and compassionate SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistants to join a supportive team. In this role, you will work closely with pupils who need additional support to access their learning, helping them develop positive relationships, self-confidence and coping strategies. Beginning September 2025.
Duties as a SEMH Teaching Assistant:
Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored interventions.
Help manage challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent manner.
Promote emotional wellbeing and positive attitudes to learning.
Support pupils both inside the classroom and during unstructured times such as breaks and lunchtimes.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers and external agencies when needed.
Ideal SEMH Teaching Assistant:
Experience working with children with SEMH needs is desirable.
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are an advantage.
A patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills as a SEMH Teaching Assistant.
Able to remain calm under pressure and respond flexibly to pupils’ needs.
A genuine passion for supporting children to achieve their full potential.
