Role overview

To deliver our profit and growth targets for Home, through the use of innovative analytics, creating a new product within the Home eco system, which leads to segmented pricing changes that we can apply to our live rates and generate incremental growth for the Home portfolio.



Job details

Analysing various data sources (including loss, policy, quote and market data), to identify opportunities to improve our risk pricing to help deliver the ambitious growth targets we have for our Hastings home business



Developing & delivering new insight, including the integration of new data, new innovative techniques and ways of working



Working closely with Actuarial, Data Science, Underwriting, Data Engineering, Account Management, Retail and Counter Fraud / Digital teams



Critically review technical models produced by actuaries and data scientists



Analyse the above models to determine the optimal way to combine these model outputs to give a starting point for our pricing



Analyse the models to identify segments where prices can be improved



Create tools that enable us to source new pricing leads on an automated basis



Ensure that we are meeting customers' fair and reasonable expectations and provide fair outcomes for our customers



Essential skills/experience:

  • Strong numeric and problem solving skills
  • Strong Analysis and coding experience. Python preferred, but if experience is with other coding languages then this can be trained up
  • Comfortable working with and analysing numerical/statistical data
  • Appetite to learn new skills
  • Collaborates well with colleagues from own team and other teams
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Good knowledge of the personal lines insurance market preferred, but other backgrounds will be considered, including non-insurance backgrounds
