Summary

Service Description

Burys SEND and Inclusion Service is currently embarking on a transformative journey to strengthen support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). At the heart of this transformation is a new integrated, graduated approach to early assessment, identification, and intervention through the Communities of Practice (C.o.P.) model. This innovative approach is built on strong partnerships to promote collaboration, shared learning, and capacity building across Burys school clusters.

As part of the new Communities of Practice, the Outreach Team will continue to support schools and settings to enable Children and Young People with SEND to achieve their full educational potential.

The current team consists of a range of professionals with the skills and expertise to meet the needs of children, young people and families. The structure of the team currently includes:

  • Team Manager
  • Senior Outreach Officer
  • Outreach Officer 3
  • Outreach Assistant 2

About the roles

We are now in a position to appoint two Outreach Officers to join the team. We are looking for candidates to reflect our diverse communities and who align with the values, culture and expectations of Bury. The role will predominantly involve working across schools and offers hybrid working arrangements.

We recognise the importance of staff care and support. All team members attend regular formal supervision as well as opportunities to share practice and discuss cases via team and caseload meetings. Ongoing training and development opportunities are provided to develop a creative, dynamic and responsive team that meets a wide range of presenting needs. Team members are expected to work flexibly and to exercise their own professional judgement in complex situations.

Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week.
