As a Clinical Practice Educator you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating a high-quality education curriculum that continuous improvement, learning and development within the hospital. You'll coach and support the clinical team at the point of care, championing a culture of safety, compassion, and evidence-based practice

As a Clinical Practice Educator you will:

  • Lead Clinical Education, deliver hands-on coaching and clinical supervision at the point of care; support junior staff, HCAs, students and newly qualified nurses through structured learning pathways and mentorship.

  • Oversee Training Programmes, manage local vocational development including apprenticeships, the Care Certificate, and competency-based training in collaboration with the NH Academy and external education partners.

  • Champion Governance & Compliance, drive adherence to CQC standards, NMC guidelines, infection control, and medicines management; lead on clinical audit participation and incident learning reviews.

  • Drive Quality Improvement, support clinical effectiveness through audits, policy development, and SOP creation; lead quality assurance initiatives to embed best practice across departments.

  • Enhance Patient Experience, embed "The Nuffield Way of Caring" in everyday practice, ensuring all patients are treated with compassion, dignity and respect, and that feedback drives service improvement.

  • Support Staff Development, lead training needs analysis, manage the hospital's clinical training budget, and create personal development plans to ensure the team remains competent and confident.

  • Foster Leadership & Mentorship, promote a safe, inclusive culture where staff feel empowered to speak up, mentor others through performance challenges, and support revalidation and professional growth.

  • Collaborate for Seamless Care, work alongside Director of clinical services, Heads of Department, consultants, and the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure training supports a high-functioning, joined-up clinical service.

This role plays a key part in multidisciplinary programmes such as pre-registration training and Preceptorship, ensuring alignment with professional standards and organisational goals.

To succeed as a Clinical Practice Educator, we are looking for:

  • NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (essential)

  • Proven experience in education design, clinical governance, quality assurance, regulatory compliance and delivery within healthcare.

  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to coach and lead multi-disciplinary teams, with strong project management skills.

  • Proficiency in digital learning tools and blended learning methodologies.

  • Commitment to professional development and educational excellence.

Nuffield Health Wessex Hospital is a stunning 46 bedded private hospital in West Hampshire with specialisms in Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Urology, Women's Health and Spinal surgery. The hospital also benefits from having onsite Radiology, Pathology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy so we can give our patients a complete package of care. There are 16 consulting rooms with speciality outpatient rooms, 46 private patient bedrooms with en-suite facilities, 24 hr resident doctor on site (RMO) and four operating theatres and one endoscopy suite.
