Summary
Our Trust is pleased to be able to recruit a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) to commence a fixed two year apprenticeship programme, within our Pharmacy department.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has the enthusiasm, flexibility, and commitment to train under the apprenticeship framework to become a registered pharmacy technician. Together with full on the job training, you will study part time, one day a week, for the pharmacy technician (integrated) (level 3) qualification. You will be required to attend college one day per week and ensure all skills and knowledge work and assignments are completed in a timely manner, meeting deadlines set. You must also be willing to complete study outside of working hours.
On completion of your qualification, you will register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a pharmacy technician which will allow you to practice as a pharmacy technician in England and Wales. You will be supported in your training and further development by an experienced pharmacy team.
To be eligible to apply, you will need 4 GCSE's at grade C/4 or above including Maths, English and Science (or a combined science award with one qualification at C/4 or above plus another GCSE). Maths and English Functional skills levels 2 can also be accepted. It is essential that you provide evidence of the essential qualifications prior to interview.
We have two posts available, which will be based at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (single sector). Start dates for successful applicants will be offered between September 2025 and March 2026.
Available colleges are Birmingham Metropolitan College or Walsall College.
The post is full time and will involve rotating through the specialist sections of the pharmacy department which include operational and clinical services. You will be required to attend college one day per week and meet study deadlines set by the college.

· To effectively use systems to support the safe and effective management and supply of medicines.
· To check and review your own and others work effectively.
· To prioritise time and resources effectively to achieve local and national objectives.
· To ensure that health and safety controls are embedded and working.
· To effectively supervise other members of the team.
