Summary

IT Apprentice
Start date: As soon as possible

Days/hours of work: Ideally 5 days, but negotiable
Monday – Thursday 08:00-16:00
Friday 08:00-15:30
52 weeks per year (minus annual leave plus bank holidays)

Salary: £279.35 per week
Main purpose
We are looking to appoint an exceptional Level 3 IT apprentice who will assist our IT Technicians in all aspects of the running of a busy IT department in a school. You will be responsible for ensuring that all issues or enquiries by staff and students are dealt with efficiently and effectively. The successful candidate will be helpful, have good communication skills and be able to diagnose basic issues and helpdesk tickets.

Bohunt is an iPad 1-2-1 school and we pride ourselves on our use of technology within and supporting the curriculum. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated IT Apprentice to work with our IT Technician. You will be based full-time on-site, responsible for some of the day to day IT issues. You will be providing first line support, working with a range of systems and users, including teaching and non-teaching staff, students and their families with varying skills. The varied nature of this role requires an engaged and enthusiastic person who has the ability to think outside the box to solve issues independently, but who can also work effectively within the school team.

Within 21 months you will complete the Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship Level 3 along with the following external qualifications:
Microsoft (MTA) Networking Fundamentals
Microsoft (MTA) Mobility and device Fundamentals
Microsoft (MTA) Server Admin
Microsoft (MTA) Software development Fundamentals
ITIL Foundation V4

Desired skills:
● A basic understanding of computer hardware and an ability to diagnose minor faults and rectify where possible
● Knowledge of various software and hardware
● Good listening and communication skills
● Teamwork - The IT Team is a small service team reacting to the needs of the school and the members need to work well together.

● There is particular responsibility to maintain a high standard of health and safety, in order to ensure that pupils and staff are protected from various hazards.

● Methodical and organised
● Good attention to detail
● Reliable and trustworthy
● A good sense of humour

Qualifications required:
● GCSE Maths - Grades A - C or 4 - 9*
● GCSE English - Grades A - C or 4 - 9*

At the end of the apprenticeship, if a role within the team is available you would be suitably qualified to undertake this.
     
The successful candidate will be subject to pre-employment checks, including enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.

The School is located in attractive, open country on the edge of Liphook (40 miles from London) with easy access to the A3 between Guildford and Portsmouth. Bohunt School opened a new Sixth Form in purpose built accommodation in 2017.
