Summary

Join us in our successful Radiology Department, with extended practitioners working in MRI, CT and breast services as well as fluoroscopy and plain film reporting.

In addition, the Consultant Practitioner role has been established in Breast Imaging and recruitment to an Ultrasound Consultant Practitioner will be initiated shortly. The Trust is conforming to the six weeks wait for diagnostics.

The Radiology Departments operate seven-day week services across our acute sites and from the Community Diagnostic Centre, Buckland Hospital.

The post will have components of general radiology, including plain film reporting, CT, Ultrasound and MRI. Each department undertakes a range of interventional image-guided procedures including non-vascular interventions including CT and US guided biopsies, PEG insertion and drainages of abscesses.

In addition, it is hoped that the successful candidate will be able to offer sub-specialist experience in one of chest, GI, cardiac or paediatric radiology. The Trust is able to accommodate / consider any other sub-specialist interest.

There are seven CT scanners and five MRI scanners with mobile MRI and CT increasing capacity further and additional expansion of the services planned.

The Trust has two new SPECT/CT units in Nuclear Medicine and a fixed site PET centre at William Harvey Hospital. There is an interventional unit to support the arterial centre for Kent and Medway which will be hosted at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. This unit will expand the scope of the service and build on the good, well-established relationship with colleagues in vascular surgery. There are two new interventional suites, and work is underway for a third to support stroke thrombectomy.

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with three acute hospitals and community sites serving a local population of around 700,000. We also provide specialist services for Kent and Medway.

We’re on an exciting journey of transformation. With a new Medical School at the centre of our community, a focus on research, clinical leadership and making our trust a rewarding and friendly place to work, there’s never been a better time to join us.

Through our Family First scheme we pledge to find roles for partners of consultants offered a substantive post - For more information please visit https://www.ekhuft.nhs.uk/careers/family-first-scheme/

We also offer removal expenses (substantive positions), up to 32 days’ annual leave and active support for study, quality improvement and patient safety work as part of our ‘We care’ improvement journey, and medical education and research.
