A forward-thinking SEN School in South East London is seeking a dynamic and experienced Primary SEN Teacher to join their team this September. This full-time role is part of a long-term to permanent pathway, offering an exciting opportunity to make meaningful impact in a school that prioritises independence, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing.

- Specialises in supporting pupils with Complex Needs, including Autism and Speech & Language challenges
- Strong and collaborative Senior Leadership Team
- Based in a well-resourced South East London location
The Class & Learning Environment
- KS2 class (Year 5 & Year 6) with 9 pupils
- Supported by 2 Teaching Assistants
- Learners working at P Levels, below age-related expectations
- Needs include behaviour challenges, Autism, and communication difficulties
- Class Teacher holds pastoral responsibility for learners and contributes to EHCP delivery
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to individual needs
- Foster a positive, supportive classroom culture
- Apply effective behaviour management strategies
- Collaborate with families, therapists, and the wider school team
- Track and assess pupil progress
- Adapt curriculum using specialist approaches, such as Makaton and PECS
- Incorporate physical activity and wellbeing into teaching
- Participate in ongoing CPD and team learning
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven experience teaching in UK Primary settings
- Confident communicator with strong classroom presence
- SEN experience (Autism, Speech & Language) preferred
- Familiarity with Makaton, PECS, or ABA approaches is a bonus
