Crynodeb

The Engineering for Sustainable Development Research Centre and the Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI) are seeking to appoint three Early Career Researchers (ERCs) from the Philippines for 12 months. The fellowships, funded by the British Council under the UK’s International Science Partnerships scheme (ISPF), aim to provide the selected early career researchers with a strong foundation to improve their careers in research and innovation to respond to the developmental needs of Philippines.

The fellows will contribute to research activities either independently or as part of a team, in the area of sustainability assessment, life cycle assessment, technoeconomic analysis, gender equality and social inclusion to develop innovative and fair solutions to environmental, economic, and social challenges for the Philippines and beyond. The fellow will take advantage of our involvement in various national and international projects which will be important for establishing their independent career.

The Early Career Researchers (ECRs) should be residents of the Philippines, have a PhD in a relevant discipline, will not have held a permanent academic post or a post with a research-related element, or one which allowed them to supervise PhD students or submit research grants as a principal investigator. Time spent in teaching-only roles or academic related roles does not affect ECR status, provided no research element was part of the role.

Applicants should currently not receive financial support or funding towards any other programme in the UK from any other sources.

For informal enquiries about this position, you can contact Prof Mirjam Roeder (m.roeder@aston.ac.uk)or Dr Abed Alaswad (a.alaswad@aston.ac.uk).

This role may meet the requirements for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.

If you require sponsorship, Aston University will assess eligibility if you are shortlisted for the role.
