Summary

Aston Medical School is focused on promoting social mobility, leadership and international connectivity whilst addressing the needs of its community through its widening participation pathway, research strategy and emphasis on primary care education and healthcare leadership.

We now offer an exciting opportunity for a lecturer to support all aspects of Phase 2 (Years 3-5) with particular focus on Year 4, of the MBChB programme and to guide and mentor the Phase 2 Clinical Teaching Fellows. Applicants must be able to offer teaching in some of the subjects relevant to Years 3-5 such as clinical sciences, communication and consultation skills, ethics, evidence-based practice, epidemiology, data science, etc. Clinical experience is not a pre-requisite for the post.

Working within a supportive and dynamic multi-professional MBChB team, the post-holder will be the first point of contact for Year 4 students and will liaise with Local Education Providers to solve day to day problems. The post-holder will develop and plan University teaching in Years 3-5 under guidance from the Year Leads and with support from the Clinical Teaching Fellows (CTFs), Year Leads (YLs), Phase 2 Lead and Clinical Specialty Leads. They will deliver lectures and facilitate small group tutorials (often using Team Based Learning), contribute to assessments, quality management and innovation in the programme as it develops and act as a Personal Tutor for a small group of students.

As well as wide-ranging experience and training in medical education, the successful applicant will be supported to undertake the PG Cert, Diploma or Master’s in Higher Education, offered by Aston University. There will be opportunities for collaborative evaluation or research projects.

It is essential that applicants have a passion for supporting undergraduate medical education, and an enthusiasm for cross-discipline working with colleagues in the University and NHS.

Please submit an online application and upload your CV.

We encourage informal discussion of the post before interview, and a tour of facilities will be arranged for the day of the interview; please contact:
