Summary

Are you looking to join a high-performing and progressive team offering excellent training and development programmes in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery?

We are looking for a 12 month fixed term ST3+ Trauma and Orthopaedic Registrar to join the team at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.

You will become part of an experienced and supportive team of Specialty Doctors and Registrars working cross sites at Peterborough City Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital, and Stamford and Rutland Hospital. The main responsibility of the role will be to provide a high-quality of specialist inpatient and outpatient care to patients with Trauma and Orthopaedic problems referred by General Practitioners and other hospital colleagues.

This excellent opportunity would suit a surgical trainee who may have successfully passed the MRCS examination and who is now looking for additional Orthopaedic experience before applying for a Specialist Registrar post. You will be allocated to a Consultant to help you develop your Clinical and Surgical skills.

We are dedicated to training and research, and we will support you in developing a sub speciality. We will ensure excellent learning and training opportunities for you to specialise in either hip & knee replacements, knee arthroscopies, foot and ankle, hands, shoulder & elbow surgery and observe other sub-specialities of orthopaedics such as paediatric orthopaedic surgery.

As our new ST3+ Trauma and Orthopaedic Registrar, your primary responsibility will be for Trauma and Orthopaedics including experience in Elective Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery.

Your clinical duties on the Orthopaedic wards will include ward round, attending, and assisting in theatres and clinics. You will take part on the on call rota where you will be provided with Consultant supervision.

As an experienced member of the team, you will be expected to provide supervision and support to Junior Doctors and non-Consultant medical staff on the ward daily, as well as participating in multidisciplinary team meetings.

You will be encouraged to participate in Clinical Governance activities, undertake audit and contribute to national audits, and actively pursuing further professional development opportunities.

If you wish to discuss the post informally or arrange a visit, please contact either Mr Amitabh Dwyer, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon through the Hinchingbrooke APC Cheryl Bryan (01480 442822) or Mr Ravindra Kamath through his secretary Sharline (01733 677183). We would be pleased to discuss the post with you.

We are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in our workforce and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, with a special focus on welcoming individuals from disabled, Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, as well as those from our local area.

In line with our dedication to employee support, we offer a variety of benefits. For more information, please see the attached staff benefits leaflet.

We strive to create a supportive and inclusive workplace where employees feel valued and empowered to excel in their roles. Join us and become part of a team dedicated to making a positive difference in our community.

Exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to join, learn from and support the Orthopaedic surgical team.

The post will also include weekend on calls within working time directive.

The successful candidates will be expected to work cross sites at Hinchingbrooke, Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals.
