Summary

Underwriting Technical Lead
Location: Leeds or Manchester (Hybrid with national travel)
Salary: Up to £70,000 plus 25% bonus and excellent benefits

IPS is working with a global insurer on a newly created and strategically important opportunity. This is a rare chance to take ownership of large client relationships and influence retention strategy for high-value commercial accounts. If you're commercially minded, technically strong, and thrive in client-facing roles, this could be a defining move in your career.

The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing and renewing a portfolio of clients with premiums typically above £100,000, across a range of niche commercial insurance products. Acting as a key contact for both brokers and insureds, you’ll lead commercial negotiations, develop tailored renewal strategies, and drive exceptional client service. You’ll also work closely with underwriting, distribution, and new business teams to ensure alignment and maximise long-term retention.

This is a hands-on, market-facing role where you’ll have the authority to make decisions, shape proposition development, and build strong partnerships with key brokers across the UK.

What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to speak with senior underwriters or commercially focused professionals who have experience handling complex commercial accounts. You’ll need to be confident leading conversations with brokers, proactive in your approach, and excited by the opportunity to help shape a new function.

Ideally, you will:

- Bring experience managing mid-market or large commercial insurance clients
- Be commercially driven with a client-first mindset
- Feel confident working across multiple product lines
- Enjoy engaging directly with the market and negotiating terms
- Be comfortable with travel when needed, typically one or two days a week

Why Consider This Role?
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a key client segment, influence outcomes, and play a lead role in enhancing a high-value proposition. You'll be supported by senior leadership and have the autonomy to shape how large accounts are managed moving forward.

In return, you'll receive a competitive salary of up to £70,000, a 25% annual bonus, and an excellent benefits package. You'll gain national exposure and genuine career progression opportunities within a global insurer, as well as the chance to be part of a dynamic, growing business that values innovation, collaboration, and forward-thinking leadership.
