A welcoming and inclusive primary school in B20 is looking for a skilled SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil in Key Stage 2. The child has social, emotional and mental health needs linked to Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and requires a consistent, trusting adult to help reduce anxiety and support reintegration into classroom learning.

You'll work closely with the school's SENCO and external professionals to deliver a flexible, low-demand approach that promotes emotional regulation and gradual re-engagement with peers and curriculum tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs
- Build a trusting, low-pressure relationship to reduce avoidance behaviours
- Use tailored strategies and visual tools to support emotional regulation
- Work collaboratively with the SENCO and professionals to monitor progress
- Support a phased reintegration into the classroom environment

What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEMH, especially PDA or high-anxiety needs
- Calm, consistent, and empathetic approach
- Skilled in de-escalation and building pupil trust
- Able to work flexibly and respond to individual needs
- School-based SEN or SEMH support experience is essential

Why Work with Long Term Futures?

- No day-to-day supply - full-time consistency in one school.
- A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your placement.
- Trial days instead of formal interviews to ensure the right fit.
- Access to free CPD training, including Understanding Autism, Behaviour Management, and further professional development/refreshers.

- Apply - Submit your CV via the application page.
- Initial Call - Our team will discuss your experience and preferences.
