Summary


We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiasticSchool Nurseto lead/join ourHealthcare ServiceatYOI Feltham A.

YOI Feltham A is the first Secure School in the UK and will hold 12-19 year old children. All staff work in line with ‘Child First’ principles to create a developmentally appropriate and trauma informed healthcare service.

We have a Health and Justice Services Directorate, within which sits the ‘Children and Young People’ Service line working in partnership with ‘Youth Custody Service’ colleagues to provide responsive, trauma-informed primary care, mental health, neuro-developmental and substance misuse services to the young people and young adults within our care.

Work closely with the children who use our services,their families,friends & carers & play an important contribution in how children experience our services.

Provide a comprehensive school nursing service & work as part of an integrated healthcare service which includes primary care,mental health,substance misuse & a sexual behaviour service.

Expected to be kind & responsive but professional & informative & contribute to the quality of the services we provide by:
• · keeping the children who use our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills & effective risk assessments
• · ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills & adhering to evidence-based policies & procedures
• · ensuring the children using our services have a good experience by respecting,empowering & working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process

We believe that the best health care is delivered by multi-disciplinary teams working well together & in partnership with other teams & services to provide seamless care.

Working as part of a team and you will contribute to the success of the team by being an effective role model & supervising Band 5 nurses,support workers & students to ensure they are working to the standards which the children using our services deserve.

Essential Requirements:
• Registered Nurse (adult/child/mental health/learning disability)
• Special Community Public Health Nurse - School Nursing (SCPHN - SN) or willingness to work towards.
• Evidence of Continual Professional development
• Mentorship Preparation or equivalent

The postholder is expected to deliver trauma-informed,culturally sensitive care,considering the developmental needs of the children & ensuring consideration of the impact of their experiences on their current strengths, needs & difficulties.
