Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Support Assistant to join our small but well-established team on a fixed term contract until March 2027.



We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Business Support Assistant to join our dynamic team within Neighbourhood Services. This varied and rewarding role will support key service areas including waste services, street cleaning, and parks and grounds maintenance. You will play a crucial part in helping the service run efficiently, contributing to ongoing improvements and ensuring high standards are maintained across the board.



Your responsibilities will include assisting with complaint responses, coordinating and responding to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, supporting website content development, and contributing to a wide range of service improvement projects. A key focus will be the upcoming Waste Transformation Project, which will see the introduction of wheelie bins, a new food waste collection service, and the expansion of our existing garden waste service. This is an exciting time to join the team, as we look to deliver more sustainable and customer-focused services to our communities.



You’ll work closely with the wider Business Support Team to bring fresh ideas, support the implementation of change, and help drive forward innovation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, has strong organisational and communication skills, and is keen to develop their experience in a fast-paced, public service environment.



You will be joining a friendly, busy, and hard-working service, delivering efficient administrative support to the Neighbourhood Services team. The role will also be involved in supporting the Council’s upcoming waste transformation changes, including garden waste and the introduction of food waste collections.



What do we need from you:

Previous experience of office administration and working with the Microsoft Office packages
Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
Accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working to tight deadlines
