Summary
See attached job description for more information: To undertake core optometry services under clinical supervision. The levelof supervision will reduce during the term of the contract as the postholdergains experience and is expected to be guided by professional guidelinesand best practice. Core services include:a. Routine refraction (including diagnostic and paediatric).b. Routine, and ultimately complex, low vision clinics.c. Complex medical contact lens fitting and aftercare management.d. Imaging techniques such as corneal topography and optic nerve headimaging.e. Investigative techniques such as slit-lamp biomicroscopy and indirectophthalmoscopy to examine optometry patients including those notunder ophthalmology review, to monitor/screen for ocular diseasessuch as age-related macula degeneration, glaucoma and diabeticretinopathy.To plan and implement individual patient care pathways and referpatients back to the care of the ophthalmologist when changes/newpathology is detected/suspected f. Colour vision assessment.g. Visual fields assessment and other psychophysical assessments ofvisual function.h. Routine and complex spectacle dispensing service.i. Liaison with medical staff and professionals from other disciplines(e.g. Social and Health Care and charities such as RNIB andOxfordshire Association for the Blind) in co-ordinating patient care
