Summary
an enthusiastic, experienced, and committed individual to join
our dynamic Learning Centre team. This role offers a unique
opportunity to support teaching and learning across both Higher
Education (HE) and Further Education (FE) environments. As a key
member of the team, you will play a vital part in delivering
information skills sessions focused on topics such as evaluating
sources, identifying disinformation, and improving research
capabilities. These sessions may be delivered to full classes,
small groups, or individuals, requiring adaptability and strong
presentation skills.
The successful
candidate will provide daily support to students via our busy
help desk, responding to a variety of queries with efficiency and
empathy. A basic level of IT proficiency is essential, especially
when assisting students with digital resources and platforms. You
will also work closely with tutors and teaching staff to provide
subject-specific support.
A passion for
promoting reading for pleasure is essential, as is creativity in
encouraging literacy through visual displays and digital
platforms. Experience using social media, such as TikTok, to
engage students with reading or academic resources will be
considered a valuable asset. A keen interest in exploring and
implementing digital technologies to enhance teaching and
learning is also highly desirable. Applicants should have
previous experience in a busy, customer-facing role within a
library or learning resource environment. Strong communication
skills in both written and spoken English are essential, as is a
proactive approach to developing services and embracing new
technologies.
