Summary

A Vacancy at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

As part of the DPU/SDAU team you will have the opportunity to work with all members of the multidisciplinary team within the Surgical Care Group, to experience being part of a team that provides patient-centred care delivered with dignity, respect, and compassion. An HCA is a vital part of our nurse-led team and essential to allow our patient to get ready for their surgeries, and to return, recover and be discharged home, leaving the unit prepared for the following day.

DPU/SDAU embraces the opportunity for staff development, and the individual will gain knowledge and skills in basic patient care, vital signs and glucose monitoring, and other enhanced practices such as ECG and venepuncture. You will learn about clinical measurement parameters and the use of the NEWS 2 scoring system following attendance at the required Trust training programs.

The unit opens Monday to Friday between 7am and 10pm, and weekends 7am to 7:30pm (closed on Bank Holidays), and the working pattern is a mixture of shifts: 7am-1pm, 7am-7:30pm and 9:30am-10pm.

Candidates successful in securing an interview are encouraged to visit the unit (depending on availability).

HCAs work collaboratively with the nursing team, both independently and under direct supervision. They work closely with the requirements of Trust and Departmental policies and procedures to ensure that patients receive the care as required.
