Stirling Council is looking for a Senior Bridges Project Engineer to play a key role in maintaining and improving the region’s bridges and structures. This is an exciting opportunity to work on major projects, help shape our asset management strategy, and ensure our transport network is safe and resilient.

We are looking for a person with structures experience, inspection and design, who may also be a Chartered/Incorporated Engineer or working towards and close to similar professional status. If you’re motivated, solutions-focused, and ready to make a real impact, this role offers a supportive environment where you can develop your career, be part of exciting and impactful projects, and a chance to work in some of Scotland’s most scenic and historic locations.

You will:

  • Lead and contribute to bridge inspections, assessments, and asset management strategies.
  • Provide technical expertise on bridge design, maintenance, and construction projects.
  • Work closely with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered effectively.
  • Help shape the Council’s long-term bridges and structures investment plan.
  • Support junior engineers and contribute to knowledge-sharing across the service.

If you’d like to discuss the role informally, please contact Paul Cronin, Design and Engineering Service Manager, at croninp@stirling.gov.uk.

If you’ve got the right skills for the job we want to hear from you. We encourage applications from the right candidates regardless of age (restrictions apply to Modern Apprenticeships), disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, belief or race.
