About Us
Mires Beck Nursery is a registered charity dedicated to providing horticultural work experience and training for adults with learning difficulties or disabilities. Established in 1984 and operating as a charity since 1994, our nursery offers a environment that helps individuals develop confidence, skills, and self-worth through meaningful work. We are located on the outskirts of North Cave, set in a beautiful natural landscape.

The Role
Mires Beck Nursery is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to lead the delivery of daily hot meals to staff and service users and to support a small group of adults with learning disabilities in meaningful kitchen-based activities.

This is a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of our newly re-established kitchen, combining catering responsibilities with a focus on inclusion and day-to-day structure for service users. You will be supported by a part-time Kitchen Assistant.

Key Responsibilities
• Plan, prepare, and serve 30–60 hot meals per day (main and dessert), Monday to Friday.
• Support up to four adults with learning disabilities daily in simple kitchen tasks tailored to their ability.
• Develop weekly rotating menus that meet dietary needs and make use of seasonal or nursery-grown produce.
• Oversee stock ordering, inventory, and cost control within the set budget (£2.50 per meal).
• Maintain accurate records of kitchen activity, safety checks, and budget monitoring.
• Manage food hygiene and kitchen compliance in line with HACCP and EHO standards.
• Line-manage the Kitchen Assistant and work collaboratively with support staff and volunteers.

What We’re Looking For
• Experience of working in a professional kitchen environment.
• Level 3 Food Hygiene certificate (or willingness to work towards).
• Confident in preparing meals at scale and managing a busy kitchen routine.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to hygiene and safety.
• Positive, calm and compassionate.

What We Offer
• A fulfilling and rewarding role in a supportive charity environment.
• Opportunities for personal and professional development.
• Additional annual leave entitlement, at 33 days per year.
• The chance to make a real difference in people’s lives through meaningful work.
