We are hiring a part time multi skilled operative to join our team in Brighton. You will work 22.5 hours over 3 days per week usually on Monday, Thursday and Friday with some flexibility.

You will be directly contributing to maintaining a homely and welcoming environment within our services and will be expected to perform a wide variety of repair and maintenance tasks and will be required to carry out both reactive and planned work.

The work can range from basic building maintenance to joinery, plumbing, PAT testing, painting and gardening. Whether you are fitting a new door handle, replacing a mixer tap or painting a bedroom, you will have consideration and kindness for our service users.

We are looking for someone with experience in maintenance, building and general DIY. You will also need some technical knowledge of all trades, as well as basic IT skills.

Your work might include

·Joinery – putting up shelves, hanging doors, boxing in pipes, fire doors

·Plumbing – unblocking toilets, bleeding radiators, replacing washers, leaks

·Electrical – replacing light bulbs and fuses, changing plug socket covers and alerting a manager when a qualified electrician is required

·Gardening – mowing lawns, trimming hedges, pruning, assembling outdoor furniture, clearing gutters, planting

·Decorating

·Void turnarounds

·Cleaning of communal areas

·Moving furniture and other items between homes and/or to recycling centres

Our ideal candidate will have ·gardening and handyperson experience in the Social Housing sector or similar environment, good organisational and time management skills, the ability to work under pressure with basic plumbing/electrical skills. You should also have the ability to drive and travel to our properties in the Brighton and Hove area.

You will also be required to have a company funded DBS check.

The full time equivalent salary for this position is £24,375 (£14,625 pro rata per annum).
