About Lauren
Lauren is a 22-year-old female who will be moving into her new home in Ledbury very soon and would like to be supported by an experienced team of support staff who are committed to helping her to live her best life. Lauren’s parents live very locally, and she has a very close relationship with them. They speak very regularly on the phone, and they visit Lauren often. Lauren would like to work toward visiting her parents at their home in the future.
Lauren has a diagnosis of Autism, Learning Disability with history of behaviours that may challenge, Pathological Demand Avoidance Syndrome, Microcephaly and De Novo Sox, which can affect development in a person or cause medical issues. Lauren has a history of seizures, so it is essential that staff remain calm and confident in providing appropriate support should a seizure occur. Lauren is prescribed multiple medications, which must be administered by staff in accordance with her support plan and risk assessments to ensure her safety and wellbeing.
Lauren requires support from her staff team to safely access the local community and live a fulfilling life. She needs assistance with all aspects of daily living but is actively working toward greater independence. It is vital that staff encourage and empower Lauren in achieving this goal by providing consistent, positive support.
Lauren forms relationships through consistency, patience, and trust, and it is important that her new team have patience and take the time to build those foundations with her. She loves to get out and about and has her own car, which staff will drive for her, to access the activities she chooses. It can sometimes take a few visits to a new place for Lauren to build up the courage to participate, and it is important that staff are aware of this and support her at her own pace with gentle encouragement.
Lauren loves animals and enjoys visiting farms and zoos. These trips give her a chance to connect with animals and support her emotional wellbeing. Creativity is also important in Lauren’s life. She loves to draw and colour, which helps her express herself and relax. She would benefit from staff engaging in activities with her to support relationship building. Lauren is also good at solving puzzles, which she finds fun and rewarding.
