Pay rate: £504.34 per day PAYE
An Enhanced DBS is required for this role
Ideally, it will be 2-3 days per week in the office. Attendance at any council office in the area will be considered.
The role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated leader to manage the Fostering and Kinship Services.
You will have a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the lived experiences for children, young people and their families, and the experience and knowledge to lead on successfully enabling children to achieve positive outcomes. At a time of change, development and growth in the area, the role is essential in integrating the Fostering and Kinship support and services with frontline Children’s Social Care services.
Key responsibilities:
Provide strategic and operational leadership for fostering and kinship care within Children's Services, ensuring high-quality practice and service delivery
Lead and modernise services for children and families through expert resource management and continuous improvement
Collaborate with senior leaders across Children’s Services to ensure vulnerable children and carers receive the support they need
Lead and manage the service to ensure high standards of practice in the work with vulnerable children, young people and their families and that places children at the centre of all service provision and development
Lead and support service provision, driving quality and consistency across a key area of social care
Manage effective, high-performing, and cost-efficient services aligned with national legislation and best practices
Translate strategic objectives into operational delivery as part of the senior leadership team
Secure political and senior stakeholder agreement on key strategic goals in a high-risk, high-profile area of council responsibility
Oversee and coordinate the work of service managers, ensuring team performance meets or exceeds expectations
What the client is looking for:
Educated to Degree Level
Social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
Proven ability to foster a supportive, transparent, and collaborative work environment
Specialist experience in fostering, with strong knowledge of legislation, policy, and guidance
Significant senior-level multi-agency partnership experience
Demonstrated leadership and management in social care, including operations, performance, budget, and staff
In-depth expertise in safeguarding, child protection, fostering, and related issues
Skilled in coaching and developing high-performing teams
Successful leadership of diverse teams to implement change
Strong financial and budget management experience
Experience of managing the interface between elected members and Officers to support the democratic process and aid decision making
Skilled in organising complex information and producing high-quality reports and presentations
Committed to anti-discriminatory practices and tackling inequality
Knowledge and understanding of recent research and best practice in fostering, child protection and safeguarding
Strong understanding of children’s social work and related challenges
Familiar with national agendas and experienced in implementing workforce and practice change
Proficient in IT to support service improvement
Knowledge of Restorative and Motivational interviewing approaches
