A dynamic consultancy is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join a small but growing team of environmental specialists. This role supports a diverse workload that spans wind energy, rail infrastructure, and a variety of construction projects.
Your new role
In this role, your main responsibilities will be:
- Lead and support fellow team members
- Assist with team planning and resource allocation
- Conduct a full range of ecological surveys, including specialist species work
- Produce detailed technical reports
- Collaborate on business development efforts
- Liaise directly with clients on larger, more complex projects
- Mentor junior staff
What you'll need to succeed
- Competence in conducting protected species surveys and specialist assessments
- Strong understanding of EU/UK environmental legislation and planning policy
- Proven experience across multiple sectors (e.g. energy, transport, industrial)
- Advanced mapping and GIS proficiency
- High-standard reporting skills, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
- Ability to peer-review documents and shape report templates
- Input on project budgets, tenders, and fee estimates
- Confident in client interactions and project strategy discussions
- Experience in securing new work and supporting growth initiatives
- Commitment to team health and safety protocols
