The Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Analyst to lead in supporting our Children’s Social Care and Family Help services in their progress to improved outcomes and adoption of Families First here at Tameside.

The role will be pivotal in our drive toward data-driven decision making and supporting front-line practitioners and senior managers alike to achieve the best possible outcomes for the borough’s children and young people.

You will play a leading role in designing and developing a suite of reporting outputs to support all levels of the business, supply timely insight into its activities and show initiative and curiosity in identifying issues and solutions.

You will lead a team of dedicated analysts to develop these skills and support them to deliver strong support across the entire breadth of the service.

The role will provide an important link between our corporate Business Intelligence Service and senior leaders across Children’s Services, ensuring we are responsive to their needs and that high-quality data and intelligence is a prominent, embedded part of their service delivery model.

You will also be a key part of coordinating any new developments with our Systems and Integration Teams. The organisation is currently investing heavily in a modernised data infrastructure you will have access to the cutting-edge Microsoft Fabric platform and dedicated support to fully harness the benefits of automation, standardisation and the de-siloing of data.

About You

You will be an experienced senior data analyst with strong experience and knowledge of Children’s Social Care and Early Help intelligence, reporting and statutory requirements.

You will have experience of leading and developing fellow analysts and delivering complex insights in a clear and actionable format to a wide audience.

If you’ve got knowledge of SQL, Python or R, or have worked with data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau that’s great, but subject knowledge, ability and attitude are the most important aspects of the role we’ll make sure you have access to the right opportunities to develop on the technical side.

You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and experience of developing data products, dashboards and reports that provide key detail and insight to the services you have supported.

You will have excellent organisational and people management skills, an ability to plan and deliver timely outcomes whilst dealing with multiple enquiries and tasks, excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent numerical skills, an ability to conduct data and systems analysis and be capable of building relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
