Summary
The Unit is headed by 4 consultant surgeons, 3 consultant oncologists and 4 consultant radiologists, all with a major interest in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease. Our medical staff also includes 4 registrars, 2 senior house officers and 3 advanced nurse practitioners. The team is supported by 5 breast care nurses, an oncology research nurse and the clinic sister. The team have weekly multidisciplinary meetings. There are quarterly breast unit educational and governance meetings as well as monthly governance sessions by the general surgery department and division. The appointee will be expected to contribute to achieving the 18-week patient pathway and Cancer targets, to the introduction of new techniques and service developments in line with demand within the breast, to the running of the breast unit and its representation within the division, to supporting the future development of St Albans City Hospital as a diagnostic centre, to continuing a strong academic profile of the breast unit and the general surgical department and to the training and teaching of trainees and undergraduates and the East of England trainees.
