Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Caerphilly to assist with the appointment of a Refuse & Cleansing Operative, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £12.85- £16.12 per hour

Summary:

The Refuse and Cleansing Operative plays a vital front-line role in maintaining cleanliness and waste management across the county borough. The role involves the removal of waste, litter, and bulky items from public and residential areas and may include street washing, yardsman duties, and working at Household Waste Recycling Centres. 

Responsibilities:

Carry out street cleansing, refuse collection, litter picking, and removal of bulky items from roads, parks, verges, wasteland, and public properties.
Work on Household Waste Recycling Centres assisting the public, segregating materials for recycling, and maintaining site cleanliness and safety.
Deliver high-quality, customer-oriented services in direct contact with residents and visitors.
Operate plant machinery or vehicles as required (including completing relevant tachograph and maintenance records).
Work in line with Council policies, including Health & Safety, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.
Support the implementation of corporate strategies and contribute to the department's service objectives.
Qualifications:

Passes at GCSE level or equivalent qualifications/experience.
Essentials:

Previous experience in a customer service or waste management role.
Experience in driving and maintaining waste collection vehicles.
Forklift truck driving experience and/or valid driving licence (LGV 1 or 2).
Knowledge of local environmental issues and council waste policies.
