Communication and relationship skills Develop effective communication skills with service users and professionals. Planning and organisational skills To complete the necessary further education to gain registration as a specialist community public health nurse (Health Visitor) Complete work based skills assessment agreed in partnership with the University and organisation Achieve all deadlines for academic and practice work and take responsibility for achieving targets. Physical skills To be able to drive timely between destinations and visits. To be I.T competent and declare any learning disabilities which may affect progress on the course. Responsibility for client care To uphold the NMC Code of Conduct (2015) Demonstrate under supervision the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluation the provision of care for clients in accordance with the principles and practice of health visiting/School nursing. Responsibility for policy and service development implementation Follow organisational policies and procedures with reference to issues such as confidentiality, record keeping, health and safety. Work in partnership with MCH safeguarding protection guidelines, taking a proactive role in identifying child abuse. Responsibilities for financial and physical resources Record and submit accurate and timely data as required e.g. travel expenses. Responsibilities for human resources (HR) The post holder is expected to adhere to the organisations policies, procedures and relevant legislation including the requirement of any professional bodies. To attend mandatory training as identified by the organisation. Responsibilities for information resources The post holder is expected to maintain information confidentiality in line with statutory and mandatory governance requirements. Responsibilities for research and development (R&D) To be able to develop skills in nurse prescribing, leading to a qualification as a community prescriber Undertake a years preceptorship following completion of the course. Freedom to act Guided by established policies and guidelines Professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work Works independently as an autonomous practitioner.
