The Opportunity

Are you a graduate eager to gain hands-on classroom experience before beginning your teaching career? We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Birmingham, seeking a driven Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This full-time, term-time only role is perfect for aspiring primary teachers looking to build experience ahead of teacher training in 2026 or beyond. As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced teaching staff, supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2), helping them to grow both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support class teachers in delivering engaging and creative lessons across the primary curriculum
• Provide one-to-one and small group learning support, particularly in Maths, English, and Phonics
• Assist with behaviour management and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment
• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and those needing additional encouragement
• Help children develop confidence, resilience, and a love of learning
• Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events, and enrichment clubs

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for proactive, enthusiastic graduates who meet the following criteria:

• Minimum 2:2 degree in any subject (degrees in Education, Psychology, English, or related fields are desirable)
• A genuine passion for working with young children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A caring, adaptable, and energetic approach to supporting learning
• Prior experience working with children (e.g., in schools, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or summer camps) is highly desirable
• A clear ambition to pursue a career in primary teaching
