JOB DESCRIPTION
Part-Time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am an 85 year old woman living in the Pontypridd area with my very small and friendly dog. I am registered blind but I do have partial vision in one eye and can make thing out roughly and can get around my flat. I also suffered a stroke in 2019 which I recovered from but do have slight memory issues from this. I can mobilise for short distances using my aids but would use a chair when going out.
I receive support from my daughter and other carers already but am looking to access the community more.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
I am looking for a PA to support me to access the community safely and to provide me with some social care. The PA will also occasionally help with light domestic tasks and potential for personal care, although my other carers do this currently.
RATE(S) OF PAY
£16 per hour
HOURS OF WORK
4 hours per week available. Will be worked during the week with flexibility on days and times.
TASKS CAN INCLUDE
Taking me out into the community using my chair.
Helping me to take my dog out for a walk.
Light domestic tasks.
Occasionally going to the shops to pick up some essentials.
Potential for personal care and assistance with showering.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
Female only due to the potential for personal care.
Preferably a car driver.
Some experience caring is desirable, whether formal or informal experience.
A person happy working with the dog in the home.
A chatty, social and outgoing person.
A kind and reliable person.
Someone willing to build a relationship with me.
ABOUT THE JOB
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
Please note: Dewis Centre for Independent Living is acting on behalf of a third party and will not serve as your employer or be liable for any issues arising from your employment should you be offered the position.
