Summary

The Operations Officer will support the operational delivery and development of the DofE through the management of a portfolio of Licensed Organisations (LOs). These LOs are mostly schools but we also work with other organisations including colleges, local authorities, charities, pupil referral units, youth groups and young offender institutions, for example.

We do not work directly with young people who are participating in DofE programmes. Instead, we manage our relationship with different stakeholders, including senior leaders in education, youth and community organisations, to ensure DofE is delivered by our LOs to a high quality.

This position will involve working directly alongside a team of Operations Officers who cover the Lancashire, Cumbria area and sit within a wider England team.

The role is field-based and when not attending meetings or events (face to face and online), the Operations Officer will work from home most of the time. Applicants should live within or very close to the area of Lancashire, with a full driving/motorbike licence and access to a vehicle.

What we are looking for:

We are looking to recruit a dynamic, proactive and effective team player to join our team. The post holder will report to an Operations Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day contact with, and management of, LOs to support delivery of the DofE’s England business plan.

The postholder will be a passionate advocate for the work of the DofE and be driven to support the delivery of our current strategy through 2026, while also contributing to the development and implementation of our future strategy, ensuring that even more young people can benefit from our life-changing programmes.

You will need to have good communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders and have the skills to inspire and influence them to enable young people to participate in DofE.

To undertake the role, you’ll need to be exceptionally organised, have the ability to prioritise your workload, meet deadlines and have excellent administrative skills, being both computer literate and competent in MS Office applications.
