Summary
Itisenvisagedthatthepostholderwill carryouttheirdutiesasafull timeSpecialty Doctor in Anaesthesia.
Thepostsareinitiallycontractedfor10programmedactivitiesperweek.
Thedemandsofthe Anaestheticdepartmentmeanthatcloseandongoingcollaboration with SAS grade colleagues is required. A degree of mutual two-way flexibility in sessional provision is anticipated.This job involves cross site working between our two principal hospitals at York & Scarborough, with York Hospital as the base site
Individual job plans will be discussed and finalised with the clinical director on appointmentandwillbecomeoperationaloncommencement. Alljobsplansareagreed in line with the Trusts Job Planning Principles.
AtYork Hospitalthere are 12 operating theatres in our main suite (including one dedicated to vascular imaging assisted work). We have a dedicated day unit with 6 theatresandanophthalmologyoperatingareawith2theatres.Thesearesupportedby two Post-Anaesthetic Care Units (PACUs).There are also two separate obstetrictheatres.
Surgical services currently supported include general surgery (including colorectal and upper GI), orthopaedics and trauma, obstetrics and gynaecology, ENT, maxillo-facial, oral surgery, ophthalmology, urology and vascular. Enhanced recovery programmesare well advanced in colorectal and orthopaedic surgery and are being rolled out in other specialties. Preoperative assessment sessions are provided as well as a full nurse-led pre-assessment service.We also have an established perioperative programme along with a successful CPET service.
There are a number of clinical leads for subspecialties including day surgery, acutepain, chronic pain, obstetrics, paediatrics, colorectal, vascular, perioperative assessment and CPX testing.

2. Toensurethatpatientconfidentialityismaintainedatalltimes.
3. Toundertakedutiesasdefinedwithintheattachedjobplaninso far as practicable and in agreement with your Clinical Director.
4. Toberesponsibleandmanageriallyaccountableforthereasonableand effective use of any Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
